Jeffrey's RM24 Birthday!

Dear friends and family,

What?
Looking at how God has blessed me last year's RM23 birthday, this year its RM24!

Like last year, my goal is to raise RM5,000.

For who?
Legacy of Hope Ministries, located in Battambang, Cambodia, is a center to learn mainly English and Computer studies with students as young as 3 years old to 50 years old.

With a blooming number of students, the center is embarking on a new building which has began ground work in 2011.

By faith and God's blessing, the building is now almost 80% completed.

Needing additional funds to complete the building, I have decided to raise funds through my 24th birthday.

How?
Concept is simple. All you got to do is donate RM24 to me. Preferably nothing less but definitely more is encouraged.

There are 3 ways to contribute:
a) Pass the money to me by face-to-face.

b) You can transfer the money my bank account*. (Maybank: Goh Ngin Tseng: 164726053788).

c) You can also transfer the money via PayPal.

I will post an official receipt from Legacy of Hope Ministries on the final amount donated on my FB wall and here because transparency and accountability matters the most.

Therefore friends and family, I do this not to seek after personal interests, intentions and glory. I do this because I see the effort, compassion and love of those who sowed and work hard to benefit of the community. Thus with this humble initiative of mine, I do hope some or at least 1 of you will be inspired to do something similar to help and impact your community.

If you wish to contact me, please email me at jeffreygnt@gmail.com.

Finally, I want to thank you guys for your help and effort in helping me make my heart’s desire a success. Thank you for your contributions and I wish you all the best and God bless you.

About Legacy of Hope Ministries

Background: Legacy of Hope Ministries started 10 years ago with the goal of helping and educating the Cambodian Youth and Children (adults included) with some Vocational-Technical-Literacy Projects/Classes.

Missionary Sam Raguingan (AOG Philippines) and his family started the project by faith and from 15 students in 2002, it grew and expanded! Today the school has around 1400 students who study English, Computer, Music, Pre-school and even Biblical Lessons.

Main Mission: To demonstrate the love of Jesus through our words and deeds and eventually disciple the Cambodians to reach their fellow Cambodians.

Our Motto: Reach the Unreached! Equip the Reached!

The center’s place is a former brothel but we praise God for the opportunity to transform it to a place where His truth and love is being proclaimed through our lives and ministries. The center is operating by faith without a consistent support from outside sources.

Students are charged with a minimal fee as low as 3USD per month to study English and Computer Lessons. Scholarship are also given to the less fortunate students.

Purpose of the BUILDING PROJECT: The center’s rooms and buildings are now more than 20 years old. Some floorings are already sinking due to unstable foundation works.

The new school building will be used as a multi-purpose building: for English and Computer Classes. It will also be used for the Pre-schoolers. Most of all, we envision that the 3rd is going to be used for our Bible School Extension for training workers with the province and adjacent ones.

Jeffrey's RM23 Birthday!

Dear friends and family,

WHAT?
In conjunction of my 23rd birthday this year, I have decided to do something different this time around that was inspired by Charity: Water (http://www.charitywater.org/) to me some time ago.

Using the same concept, I have decided to do away with the conventional gifts and meals to raise funds from my 23rd birthday to support a friend of mine in Cambodia for the year 2012. Back in November 2010, my friends and I went to Cambodia to volunteer for One-2-One Charitable Trust (http://one2onecharitabletrust.org/). And with the funds we managed to raise for them, the organisation decided to hire a guy that will help in providing educational and essential interpersonal skills such as teaching English, songs, arts and crafts and more to the children of the many orphanages that were under the organisation.

My goal is to raise RM5,000. With RM5,000, I am able to continue supporting this friend of mine for the whole year of 2012.

And in order for me to reach this goal, I need 230 of my 794 Facebook friends to help me!! (230 people after taking in considerations of those who are FB inactive, don’t check event page, too young etc etc)

HOW?
So this is what I need you, my friends and family, to help me bring this heart’s desire of mine come to past:

1. Wish me a Happy Birthday. :D (But don’t stop here, I really urge you to take the next few steps. Haha)

2. Please donate RM23!! (As mentioned earlier, I don’t ask for any gifts or meals of that sorts for my birthday this year. All I want from you is RM23 or more. I wouldn’t put a maximum limit but 23 would be the minimum. However if you wish to buy me a meal or a gift after donating RM23, I will still accept, give you a smile and say thank you very much. But only after you have donated RM23! Hahaha)

3. There are 2 ways to contribute:
a) Pass the money to me by face-to-face. (I will be hosting a dinner on Thursday. Please read ‘When’ for details.

b) You can transfer the money my bank account*. (Public Bank: Goh Ngin Tseng: 4-4909103-08)

c) You can also transfer the money through PayPal.

Long story short, 230 x RM23 = RM5,290 = 1 year worth of salary for my friend.

(* - Please note that there might be a small charge incurred when you transfer with your account. Also please message me either privately or write on my wall the amount you contribute. Sorry for the inconvenience)

WHEN?
I will be hosting a dinner on Thursday night.
Date: 9th of June
Time: 8pm – 10.30pm
Place: TBC
Fee: Free
Theme: Bow/Bowtie

If you would like to attend, please click on Attending (Confirm) and Maybe Attending (Not sure but will confirm later) so that I know how many are coming. Also it’s for all, young old male female. If you are not attending, it doesn't mean you can't contribute. Still can transfer the money via bank. Thanks!

WHY?
Why raise funds to support him and not other charitable organisation or causes you might ask. Well as one of the sponsor for this friend of mine, I feel that it is my responsibility to continue this on-going support to him especially in terms of finance. Another reason is because of his passion and love to the extent of going the extra miles almost unhesitant for the children just to see them nurture and grow up one day to be great contributors for the country of Cambodia, I feel that he is truly an asset and I truly am encouraged by his great works.

I will post an official receipt from One-2-One Charitable Trust on the final amount donated on my FB wall and here because transparency and accountability is the most important.

Therefore friends and family, I do this not to seek after personal interests, intentions and glory. I do this because I see the effort and most importantly, love, from a man who is so willing to do what most would not do for the benefit of his community.
